CME Objectives

After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the epidemiology of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Describe the physiology of PTSD
  • Select treatment options for patients suffering from trauma-related stress

Statement of Need and Purpose

Physicians responding to surveys in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and related CME activities have requested updated information on PTSD. This CME activity was designed to provide an updated review of the epidemiology, physiology, and treatment of PTSD. There are no prerequisites for this activity.

Accreditation Statement

Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

Physicians Postgraduate Press, Inc. designates this educational activity for up to 2 hours in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each participant should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
